Even when I hit a size zero, I felt anxious, weak, and constantly at war with myself. And when I couldn't sustain it, the binge eating would come, and so would the shame. I lived in a cycle of starting over, again and again, thinking maybe this time it’ll stick.
I got smaller. But I never felt stronger.
For most of my life, I struggled with my body. I grew up watching my mom and sister bounce from one diet to the next, so that’s what I did too.
But more than any title, I’m a woman who knows what it feels like when your body suddenly stops responding… and everything you thought you knew about health, fitness, and food starts falling apart.
I thought thin meant healthy. I thought restriction was strength. I chased every quick fix: cabbage soup diets, juice cleanses, laxatives, punishing workouts.
That’s when I stopped trying to be skinny and started training to be powerful.
It wasn’t about bouncing back, it was about rising forward.
I was in midlife. My hormones were shifting. My energy was gone. I was gaining weight, despite doing “everything right.” And I was crumbling.
In 2020, during the height of COVID, my world cracked open. I watched my dad battle not one, but two terminal illnesses.
The emotional weight of that season was unbearable. I was grieving in real time, all while trying to keep my business afloat, show up for my family, and deal with the chaos happening inside my own body.
Then one day, in the middle of it all, I had a moment of brutal clarity: I didn’t want my kids to worry about me the way I worried about my dad.
That realization cut deep, and lit a fire in me.
I knew I had to do more than just survive.
I had to get strong, not just for me, but for them.
