Strong Core: Getting Fit from the Inside Out
I know you want to be the best version of yourself and give 100% in every area of life. One key to being your best and most fit is your body’s core strength. What does having a strong core mean for your life?
Your core is like a sturdy, protective shield around your spine and organs. The stronger it is, the better. You might think of core strength just as something that powers you through sit ups and planks or what’s underneath those defined abs.
That’s part of it, but even more, a strong core—although it’s something that you can’t see—goes way beyond that and impacts almost every aspect of your physical abilities and fitness. The truth is that no matter your age or fitness level, a strong core means greater physical performance, less pain and injuries, and an enhanced quality of life.
Check out these 5 main benefits of a strong core and get motivated to build a stronger core!
1. Prevents Pain and Injury
A strong core prevents back pain because your spine is more supported and protected as you move, keeping you from flexing, extending, or rotating in a way that causes pain or injury. If you sit all day at work or are constantly on the move, a strong core will reduce discomfort and irritation.
2. Boosts Physical Performance
Your core is involved in almost every type of movement your body makes. Whether you are an athlete or not, a strong core can boost any physical performance—lifting weights, swinging a tennis racket, paddling a canoe, throwing a ball, or taking a hike. With a strong core, the sky’s the limit!
3. Improves Balance and Stability
Core strength enables you to improve your posture, which impacts balance and stability. It doesn’t matter if you are young or older, core strength makes it easier to stand straighter, walk or run on unstable ground, and stay stabilized during a workout. (Naturally, this better balance and stability is also part of why a strong core prevents pain and injury!)
4. Protects Your Organs
Remember how your core is like a shield around your spine and organ? A strong core goes a long way to protect those vital organs from being damaged. That strong core once again goes a long way to making you unstoppable!
5. Improves Quality of Life
When you strengthen your core, it benefits you now—and in the future. You can do more (and more strenuous) physical activities. Whether it’s daily tasks like picking something up off the ground, standing or sitting for long periods of time, or doing housekeeping tasks OR pushing yourself with tough workouts, vigorous sports, or extreme hobbies, having a strong core makes it easier, safer, and lots of more fun.
The Strong Fit Life wants to help you build that core strength!
